BASIC DOG OBEDIENCE Part 1 (6 Week Course)

(AGES 3 MONTHS UP TO ADULT) Minimum 5 – Maximum 10

Dates: Thursday evenings, beginning Sept. 16, 2010 and ending Oct. 21, 2010
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
6 weeks (one hour) Thursday evenings.
FIRST SESSION IS A LECTURE – NO DOGS, PLEASE.

Registration begins August 23

Fee: $80.00 for residents, $120.00 for non-residents. Fee covers one dog and one handler. One additional auditor/observer allowed per dog for an additional $30.00 fee. Sorry, no children under 16 years of age are allowed to attend sessions.

Audit fee must be payed at the recreation center prior to start of classes or to instructor on first night of classes.

Location: Peters Township Community Room, 200 Municipal Drive.  (Back of the Police Station.)

Course Description:  This course is designed to encourage dogs and handlers to work as a team, with the dog owner as leader. Participants will learn all basic obedience commands as well as how to handle their dogs properly on a leash. Other topics covered will include safety with dogs in the home and understanding dog body language and behavior. Bonus: Learn unique techniques created by Debbie Miller-Gurchak. No aggressive dogs permitted.

Time: 8:15 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.
6 weeks (one hour) Thursday evenings.

Cost: $80.00 for Peters residents or for employees working within Peters Township
$120.00 for non-residents
$ 30.00 Audit spaces

DOGS ATTEND ALL CLASSES

Location: Peters Township Community Room, 200 Municipal Drive.  (Back of the Police Station.)

Course Description:  This course is designed for handlers who have already completed a Basic Obedience class, with us or elsewhere. (Dogs should know basic commands like sit, down, etc. and be under control on a leash.) Participants will begin to perfect the basics and work on heeling, recalls, stays and other skills necessary to begin working toward a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) award, a Companion Dog (CD) obedience title, or a Rally Novice (RN) title. This class is also appropriate for all pet owners who simply wish to have a well-behaved dog, or who have dogs which require a mental and physical challenge to satisfy their needs. Individual attention will be provided based on each dog and handler’s level of proficiency. Bonus: Learn unique techniques created by Debbie Miller-Gurchak. No aggressive dogs permitted.

Hollybush Dog Training Services is proud to announce that we have been invited once again to teach summer dog training classes for the Moon Township Parks and Recreation Department.  Our first session (September 15 – October 20, 2010) will feature a Basic Obedience Part 1 course. Details are as follows:

BASIC OBEDIENCE PART 1 (Moon Township)

This class is designed for the handler whose puppy or older dog needs to learn (or perfect) basic commands and manners, including how to begin walking nicely on a loose leash.   In addition to teaching skills such as sit, down, stand, stay, come, etc., we will discuss behavior problems, safety around dogs, and how to keep your dog’s attention in spite of distractions.  Gentle-style training. 

No aggressive dogs permitted.  Class is limited to 10 students.  Dogs must be at least 12 weeks of age, and handlers at least 16 years old. 

Dates: Wednesday evenings, Sept. 15 – Oct. 20, 2010 (six weeks)         

Times: 7:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE:  For the first week ONLY, both classes will meet at 7:00 p.m. for a one-hour seminar without the dogs.

Location: Moon Park Tennis Courts, Moon Township, PA  15108

Cost: $90.00 for township residents/$95.00 for non-residents

Fee covers ONE dog and ONE Handler.

Handlers must be at least 16 years old.  No aggressive dogs.
